Fall 2026 Hoisanwah classes 

All classes are taught by Candy and Yan. Our classes use TPRS® (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) and other Comprehensible Input–based approaches. Most of each class is conducted in Hoisanwah, with lots of stories, conversations, reading, questions, and interaction. Our goal is to make Hoisanwah understandable and enjoyable rather than relying mainly on memorization and drills.

🌱 Beginning Hoisanwah

Mondays, 7:30–8:30 PM US Central Time
September 7, 14, 21, 28 and October 5, 12, 19, 26

8 lessons — $120 USD
3–7 learners

For total beginners and learners who are still developing their understanding of everyday Hoisanwah vocabulary and sentences.

Approximate ACTFL level: Novice Low–Novice Mid

🌿 Advanced Beginning Hoisanwah

Saturdays, 7:30–8:30 PM US Central Time
September 12, 19, 26 and October 3, 10, 17, 24 and November 7

8 lessons — $120 USD
3–7 learners

For learners with some previous Hoisanwah experience who are still developing their ability to understand and produce everyday vocabulary and sentences.

This class is also a good fit if you have previously taken one of our Beginning Hoisanwah classes.

Approximate ACTFL level: Novice Mid–Novice High

🌳 Experienced Hoisanwah

Thursdays, 7:30–8:30 PM US Central Time
September 10, 17, 24 and October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

8 lessons — $120 USD
3–7 learners

For learners who can understand everyday Hoisanwah vocabulary and sentence patterns with relatively little difficulty and are developing the ability to produce connected sentences and paragraphs.

You’ll also have opportunities to work with more specialized vocabulary and more complex topics.

Approximate ACTFL level: Intermediate Low–Intermediate High

💻Class Information

• All classes meet live on Zoom.

• Classes are recorded, and recordings are shared only with students enrolled in the class.

• No homework is required, but we strongly encourage you to spend some time with Hoisanwah between classes.

• After each class, we’ll provide Daily Reading and/or a novel for you to read and revisit.

• We encourage you to watch Hoisanwah videos that you can understand and enjoy and to use Hoisanwah whenever you have the opportunity to interact with Hoisanwah speakers.

You don’t need to memorize Hoisanwah to learn it. Our goal is to help you understand and acquire the language through meaningful, enjoyable interaction.
